Rooms We Transform

Custom Murphy Beds

A guest bed gets used a few nights a year and takes up the room the rest of the time. A Murphy bed folds away so the room can work double duty.

A guest room that does two jobs

A guest bed gets used a few nights a year and takes up the room the rest of the time. A Murphy bed — also called a wall bed — folds up into a cabinet when you don't need it, so the same room can work as an office, a workout space or a playroom and still sleep guests when they visit.

Millcraft builds every Murphy bed cabinet to your room. Each one is made in our own shop in Suffield, Connecticut, by a family-owned company that builds custom cabinetry and millwork for homes across the region, and installed by our own team.

What we build

A bed that disappears

When it's closed, a Murphy bed looks like a built-in cabinet, not a folded bed. We match the cabinet to your room's trim and finishes so it reads as part of the house. When it's open, it's a full-size bed on a standard mattress — no thin sofa-bed cushion.

Murphy beds with storage around them

The bed is only part of the wall. We can flank it with shelving, cabinets or wardrobe storage so the room gains storage instead of losing it. It's a good fit for spare bedrooms that also hold seasonal clothes, linens or books.

Home office and guest room combinations

Many clients want a room that is an office during the day and a guest room when family visits. We plan the bed and the workspace together, so the desk and the bed each have the space they need. See our home office page for built-in desk ideas.

Designed around your room

Every project starts with measuring the room, including ceiling height and the clearance the bed needs to open. We then design the cabinet and help you choose finishes and hardware.
